But, I have a background in Finance and if I'm comfortable with the risk being taken with these investments, why not work with these low rates and depressed prices early in my career and get the proverbial "snowball" rolling down hill ASAP?

I was a business major with a background in finance but ended up becoming a software engineer working for startups in San Francisco.The startup I work for has grown from 4 to almost 100 people which has made the hours more manageable and given me time to explore other entrepreneurial pursuits.I've saved up a small sum of cash to invest this year and I hope to learn a lot in my time here :)

You also need to understand how finance and security regulations are intertwined with other laws, they rarely stand alone as our economy is a very deep subject matter with roots.In my opinion, really, people who have no formal training in finance or law can attempt to study things on their own.
