Price cabinets and such as well. also ,to hire a painter it runs about $200 per gallon. equaling about $200 per room. a good way to cheat is to figure $100 per square foot on repairs. =1,000 sqft=10k in repairs. not always right but a ball park.

With that said, there are several people that know what they're doing in this market and do turn out a quality product.Anyway, while I think my carpet prices are pretty competitive, or a bit lower than a lot of other guys I know, I purposely pay a little more for a better-than-average painter because it's worth it (to me).

Imagine how much the bill will be in 10 years when your painter is salivating while telling you "It wont be cheap.

In our area I have ran into several painters who only use Valspar and so far I have only not used people who "only use Valspar" because they double the paint budget

What if I hire a painter?

If you want good results, it may be worth looking for and contracting with a painter who does quality work. 

I wont let them paint , but I will send a painter over .

It would be like a painter trying to put up drywall.
