Keep in mind that a day sleeper has a choice too, the pitter patter of little feet overhead is part of life in an apartment environment, can't say kids can't be there nor must other tenants tip toe around to appease someone who keeps odd hours.HUD prevails over any state or municipal matter, but all real estate is local.

I've heard theories about minerals in the water, and poorly done joints causing micro-currents which in turn cause excess erosion at those point of the pipe.Given that it's happened multiple times I'd be nervous about leaving the rest in the house, personally In my mind I'd be making plans to do just as you suggested - replacing everything with PEX.
