Denver City Council is looking at the issue of short term rentals in the city because the zoning department has reported a total of 9 complaints about them.Since 1956, it has been illegal to rent homes and apartments for less than 30 days.With the popularity of websites like Airbnb, there are 1000 landlords in Denver currently flouting this law.

I'm not sure how much renovation you've done on it already, but if it needs work, reno in that district is a huge pain in the behind (all reno that can be seen from the outside of the house has to go through the Preservation Council for approval). 

Filing, and the subsequent serving on the other party, often gets things moving.The dollar amounts handled in small claims court are small enough {cut off in NB is 12K}, that it is typically impractical to engage council.

Everyone agrees that responding to homelessness is the city council’s most important priority.

The last I heard it was being voted on by the county council, didn't catch the outcome. 

Neighborhood is on outer fringe of seattle so not walkable to any amenities,  but still good commute options to lots of places.One thing to consider though-  Seattle has very punitive/strict tenant protection laws -  and given our recent city council elections which appear to have moved the council FARTHER left (if that was even possible...) 

Invest outside in a different jurisdiction (nearest suburbs are 15 minutes away), with a different city council and govt.

.: Considering buying a STR property in Seattle instead of the Eastside, but I'm concerned about the city council - their laws around crime as well as landlord regulations.
