So these are my thoughts, and they come from experience in withdrawing from tax deferred accounts, which leaves a bad taste!  

Haven't bought anything there for last two years, prices are to steep for my taste, plus you got to deal with City of Sacramento annual rental properties inspections, and as you can imagine, these blood sucking bureaucrats have to justify their existence....and always find things that need to be fixed in these older homes.

The government gives tax breaks to churches, but we Orthodox Jews just have "too many churches" for some people's taste.

Florida is tasting some of it's own blood in their mouth with the HOI issues, the HOA issue is just going to make it work.

From the investor side I know there are folks who like that they can access cheaper markets within an easy day trip, and get in a little wine tasting or what not as well.

Well, I’ve had my first taste of a scam being run on my (1st ) rental.

But I guess I just have a sour taste in my mouth from that bad experience I had.I think you are all right that there are a few things that are enjoyable and other things that are a pain.

For residential use, wallpaper would probably be impractical as each person has their own tastes.

He should work a little harder for his taste of your investment otherwise you should find other means to get this handled.
