I personally would select more timeless finishes that would stand the test of time a bit better, and have universal appeal, even if a bit less "interesting."

This is such a timeless piece and so much holds true from the '30s to today in this book (and the 21st Century addition is great as it provides updated examples which is nice). 

His books are timeless and show his true genius.

If you're serious about REI, my other suggestion is to get some reputable and timeless education, plug in to a community and network hard!

I think the cost is comparable and the look is timeless.
