I find in my own house that they're a bit more finicky (bad for the impatient, you really have to hold down the button for two solid seconds--I have some fancy-pants American Standard ones with the skirts and the ultralow flush and the nanofinish and all that jazz), but I haven't had enough experience with them to evaluate the claims for increased reliability and decreased leakage

The car port is a little worse as some sub roof plywood will need to be replaced as the roof apparently has been leaking for a while but the wood has been able to absorb the leakage without it dripping through because the rain prior to this year has been so minimal.

as others have mentioned an oil tank is manageable and certainly not a deal breaker, typically the biggest issue I've seen with oil tanks (other than occasional leakage) is during absentee ownership when the tanks run empty.

Sorry I never had to deal with the municipality on anything except once for a very minor pipe leakage repair at the street hook up which I had to pay.
