I can't imagine how much extra time is spent without having automation.

The pet fee or deposit for the move in of 2 cats (you did charge one, I hope) should have just about covered the extra anyway.

Many investors do end up getting their own license because of this, others don't want the liability and extra work.

You can't charge extra pet rent or even a pet deposit because it's legally not considered a pet.

For some extra context, their lease expires in about 5 months, so this landlord transition happened midway through their leases. 

Not to say you cannot do well, but it’ll take some extra TLC.
