On the contrary, a savvy GC sees value in working with a good rehabber.At any rate, many contractors are afraid of dong free bids as they expect to not get the deal, particularly since the competition is so fierce these days (your old 1 out of 3 is now likely more like one out of ten) and there are a ton of wholesalers asking for free bids who have no intentions of getting work done because they are wholesalers and not rehabbers.So I understand the contractors desire to not waste time and get paid for time, however, I would never pay for a bid.

It is also "risky" to do nothing an have your money sitting dong and earning nothing, that net result is a loss when you factor in the devaluation of the dollar over time.There is nothing wrong with being patient and finding the right deal, if the last one was not the fit, so be it, but don't let fear or some unknowns detour you from the goal, having your money work hard for you!
