I believe there's plenty of opportunity in those areas, as well as areas a few hours west of NYC(NJ and PA) and northeast of the city(CT for example.)Being able to reach your property by car is superior to having to book a flight, IMHO. 

If their car is a dirty pos inside, so will your house.

Also my bank account is there along with a small loan on a car. I

Pleae drive by their current address and check out how they keep the yard, look inside their car.  Is

2)Having a very hard time trying to find a good property in the Cary/Apex area.

Ironically, late last year I was looking in Cary, NC.

I live in Cary though so probably would prefer somewhere closer to Cary then Durham
