Don’t get the pin hole camera.  

Here's a few things you can do to mitigate this from happening: Hire a house sitter (~100 per week)Ring alarm monitoring system (~20 per month, no internet required)Plant some flowers in the front (imply occupancy)Install dummy or real security cameras (some area even cellular based for live capture)Drill the exterior doors shut As far as theft/vandalism goes, make sure you are insured correctly with a builder's risk policy that covers it. 

We have strategies to mitigate that risk: not renting to locals, smaller units, multiple-day stay requirements, no pets, must have a picture and at least one other review on your platform profile, must respond to an email from us, exterior cameras, etc.And 99% of people naturally tidy up after themselves.  

Tell them what's going on and allow them to place covert camera's where they would like.

Actual break in but only got a laptop due to alarm2. 5 more attempted break ins and caught on camera (True HD camera system) but guy has no record so cops couldn't do a face recognition.3.

Buy a drone with a camera.  

Always try to take photos in landscape and from a corner of the room, if you can, and have the camera more towards the floor/at waist level (actual photographers may be able to word this better).

For you have cameras set up to record their movements?

I do know that cost is what makes up everything, the biggest items being earthquake and then anything related to community security like a guard (we don't have) or cameras and server etc. and in some cases where the HOA needs to replenish reserves based on some updated reserve study.
