I think the other one is immortal, been waiting for it to kick the bucket for 16 years, it's still feisty as ever.From a landlord standpoint of view, there is not much to worry about as long as the tenant does not let them roam freely to get stuck behind cabinets or in the walls via holes.

I usually buy an inexpensive tub/bucket container of some kind and fill it with several trial/travel size items like dish soap, hand soap, detergent, etc.

But since for whatever reason the tenant is not inclined to do this favor, the landlord needs to pay for what he wants.I think professional cleaning(paid for by the owner) for open houses is a great idea.Even $100/day of showing will be a drop in bucket if the house sells.
