Just like politics nowadays.... you aren’t going to change anyone’s mind.... the math is the math. and you can dance around it and rationalize yourself to believe some form of alternate math as much as you want..... if YOU believe it works, then fine... run with it.... knock yourself out.....As Joe pointed out.... the math between the 2 strategies is very close.... but the effort, discipline and logistics don’t make it worth it.... all it takes is a small bump in the interest rate on the HELOC.... or the bank to call or freeze the HELOC (you know the bank can do that at any time right?)
