As for me, it is a simply an opportunity to ADD VALUE: SOLVE PROBLEMS: By trying to answer questions and giving counsel (and in the process learning myself)MAKE PEOPLE FEEL GOOD: Sometimes, people come here because their circle in the offline world doesn't get them or understand them, so they try to come here to find solace.

I agree with your point that board activity has to be balanced with actual economic activity, but for a lot of us board activity has directly translated into $ and very rewarding connections with BP members both online and offline.
