Family is great because they give us a chance but there can be bad blood for years over money misunderstandings.  

I know o many family members no longer on speaking terms because of "misunderstandings" about family loans.  

There may be a little misunderstanding of the instrument (Land Contract / Contract for Deed) on your and Meg's behalf.

Most of what we're finding is an expectation of 4-6%.Are we misunderstanding something or does this seem outrageous?

While I semi-agree with that, I would like to use a FHA loan for investment purposes and I know that if your name is on the deed for another property you cannot qualify for a FHA loan (unless I’m misunderstanding something.)

Insurance also doesn’t protect you from misunderstandings, especially those made in writing and email.
