I can understand the temptation of wanting more rent from your multifamily home however I would add this to your train of thought:What would happen if your tenant in your illegal basement unit burned down the house which caused another tenant to get hurt or even die?

Anyone reading this thread should make it a point to read your state's real estate contract practice book or at minimum pull a list of all C.A.R. forms from the internet and read the title of each form and pick a few to read line by line to begin understanding the contract language.

If we let 30 RVs on the property it may attract too much attention, but being conscious of neighbors the rural area takes on more of a 'ask for forgiveness rather than permission' vibe for anything that doesn't involve permanent structures.

Having an expert landlord attorney involved will help you a lot.As for the actual question, it is very difficult if not impossible to "stop" a tenant from damaging your property, because you are not inside the property to know what they are doing.
