We are interested in a location that is in short driving distance (approx 20 minutes to the lake) and similar driving distance to other outdoor activities such as hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter.We visited South Lake Tahoe last winter and absolutely loved Heavenly and we are heading back this fall to get to know the North Lake Tahoe area.I'm looking forward to hearing from others who are familiar with the area and I would also be interested in meeting fellow BP'ers when we are in town this fall. 

I’d stage it with yard furniture, and outdoor rug and some potted plants which would also look very nice in my own back yard.

Goal is “be able” to retire and live comfortably in Hawaii at 45, 35 now (10more yrs till military retirement).Own a commercial rental property.Passive income goal not necessary as military retirement should be more than enough, though extra $$$ can be donated to the missionary field.Work per diem to maintain anesthesia license (worked to hard for this to let it lapse).Spend maximal time with family and enjoy the great outdoors!

The sparkling lights of the Bay Bridge and the City from my deck, the all year outdoor weather, gorgeous hiking trails and parks 2 miles from my front door, world class theater, concerts and events a short BART ride away, and some of the smartest people in the world all around me.

To each their own I suppose.Well if you have never lived there I could see your point.. but its not all about money.many parts of CA are simply the nicest places in the entire world to live when you factor in weather jobs and out door pursuits.. 

The goal would be to find a decent 2 to 4 bedroom place close to the beach (or other outdoor attraction) that would allow us to realize a modestly positive cash flow.

Corrrect, November thru April would be slow for outdoor activity, another thing we are considering.

Plus the ability to cook your own meals, outdoor space, being in unique neighborhoods, etc etc . . ...
