That being said, if you are set on doing it yourself (I see that you are a contractor), there are a number of anti-microbials available on the market that are much much better than bleach and are no more than $20-30/gallon.

At $6 a gallon, California now ranks as the state with the most expensive gasoline in the country.

And FYI, in my area a new septic install (1000 gallon) runs me $8k to install.  

We have a 3-yard dumpster for trash and 2 recycling bins that I think are 64 gallons and zero green waste bins.

It flooded the apartment with hundreds of gallons of water while they were at work.

If I receive a complaint I use BIFEN at 1 Oz per gallon and using a pump sprayer spray 2 feet before foundation and 3 feet up. spiders, ants, and roaches are controlled from entering.

Also worth mentioning the paint I had for the deck went bad that I had given to her, so she bought a new gallon and isn’t worried about reimbursement on that.

Adding bleach is a common method of disinfecting water, but you don't just dump a gallon of bleach and call it a day.
