Most of our SFH are similar vintage, the oldest built in 1918.  

I’m rehabbing my second rental property and I am considering doing faux marble epoxy countertops over laminate.

Just for discussion purposes.I picked this pic off the internet.It looks like a lot of "Hoarder Houses" decor style.Busy carpet, busy furniture, paneling, faux rocks on the walls, flat paint.I can smell the cigarette smoke just looking at the picture.But I wonder if you owned this place, as either a flip or a rental, or AirBnB, would you rip everything out and paint it all grey and modern.Or do you think pic 2 is acceptable and cheap (quick) way to do it.Tear it out to the studs, or just light cosmetic changes, or something completely different?

Also, my criteria starting out was newer than 1980s vintage just because of the likelihood of running into some issues on older properties but then again 1970s isn't that bad. 

Said some of his friends were coming over to put some jewelry on him. 

@David SmitI get the 2” faux wood blinds from Home Depot.

My initial though is....dumpster everything but jewelry as I don't want to deal with the time it take to sort things.Can you donate it and get a huge write off from good will?

@George Kopp I use the Allen & Roth faux wood vinyl blinds from Lowe's, they average about $30-35 per window for regular sized house windows.

Ask if it is realistic for an asset of that size, vintage, and age to sell at that cap rate in 5 years.

ie, "the penthouse".I believe there may also be exemptions for buildings that are vintage and not suitable to be modified?
