My partner's family owns an STR, free and clear, worth between 1.8-2 million in a popular vacation destination.

The short term rental market in our area has been doing really well over the past year and we feel this property is a destination unto itself.

Build up enough SFR’s in your portfolio and you’re destined to be replacing one or more of these components each year.

Oregon is also an increasingly popular retirement destination, for primary and second home buyers that don't need to have STR permissions, the options and areas to invest are robust, and there is even high demand for upgraded and updated furnished mid term rentals to help off set operating costs.

Here are some other factors and reasons the OR Coast makes a prime second home or vacation rental destination (for now and presumedly into the future!)

Island tours, whale watching, booze cruises, rental cars, etc. fall higher on the list for us than selling lei's or other small souvenirs for example. 

I'm looking particularly to cater to the rural markets as well, trying to target locals driving to mountain destinations for short getaways.

This makes no sense to me as mission beach should have zero limit as it has been a vacation destination with STRs pre AirBnB (including ours).  

It's been amazing, but it's a destination town.
