It sounds like to do a great service for your customers, and if your assertions are correct, I'm sure that you'll be hugely successful with a very loyal base of clients.

@Matt Hoyt I would respectfully disagree with your assertion.1st off lets clarify that generally speaking there are two types of financing - Conventional (Fannie/Freddie/FHA/VA/USDA) and Portfolio (Residential and Commercial).

Although the specific interest(s) that underlie a criminal history policy or practice will no doubt vary from case to case, some landlords and property managers have asserted the protection of other residents and their property as the reason for such policies or practices.  

If he doesn't know how the system is supposed to be run he has no frame of reference to assert leadership and make corrections, and he can't be totally sure if it's really a system problem or a people problem.
