I was also DM'd by a ReafCo agent recently and politely said I will no longer be investing in the Midwest and not interested in buying in OhioI commented very recently on a someone asking about Bay Area investing, giving very specific information my local area to help this person out and no surprise... a Columbus agent comments on this post. 

OpenAI, a leader in artificial intelligence, has leased the entire 315,000-square-foot building at 550 Terry A Francois Blvd. in San Francisco’s Mission Bay neighborhood.

San Jose and the Southern Bay Area were appealing but may be outside our current budget.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and acquired 2 properties (one SFH solely owned and an apartment complex, co-owned with other investors) pre-2013.

The 315,000-square-foot space in Mission Bay adds to OpenAI’s nearly 1 million square feet of leased space across the city, including properties subleased from Uber last year.As one of the largest AI firms in the world, OpenAI’s expansion is helping revitalize San Francisco’s struggling office market.

The reason for the delay is because I initially thought I'd invest in low cost areas of California like Fresno, Bakersfield, Stockton, Sacramento, etc (due to being somewhat within driving distance of the SF Bay Area) but I held back because California's landlord laws made me very concerned.I didn't want to end up in drawn out court battles with a renter just squatting at a place I purchased with my cash.
