Rentals do not qualify.Geothermal, small wind turbines, solar energy.  

I moved to Michigan to start working for a company who designs and builds gas turbine jet engines.  

Over the past 10 years of investing in Real Estate I have gotten more and more frustrated with the utility bills and waste generated from the tenants in my buildings.I have since worked closely with a micro wind-turbine manufacturer out of California and have really concentrated on making the idea of having GREEN power & GREEN reuse on my buildings a reality.Well, about 4 months ago, I joined an idea competition on a website called IDEABLOB, hosted by a credit card company.

Has anyone here had experience buying rural land and developing it for renewable energy use / installing wind turbines or solar power on it?

That's hilarious Paul - sounds like you understand your market - If I recall, guys working on wind turbines (maybe) oil refinery workers?

For what it's worth, John, I got my pilot's license back in the early 80's - Single-engine, land, VFR only, no IFR, no complex, no turbine.

So many who started with Cirrus aircraft have moved up to Turbines and light jets and commercial jets..

for me its Controller.com   then I go right to the Turbines.

George and Boise as you know.You could do it in a plane like mine a Cirrus but  U would have to really watch weather and such.a pressurized turbine is what you would want you can get a decent used one for 1 to 1.5 mil.. and if you really use it they are good write offs and of course hard to value our time.. you could now make your meetings and be back for dinner.  

I would not fly any other non turbine airplane.. most used Cessna's etc are all 50s and 60s tech.
