I see a lot of the same names pumping the same guru which makes me very suspicious.

That is not a small thing.Banks are audited for “suspicious account activities” and a notice gets sent to the FBI.

Something about how pushy they were being made me suspicious.

The website 51west.properties also scores low on scam advisor ("owner is using a service to hide their identity, high number of suspicious websites on the server, registrar has a high % of spammers and fraud sites, website is (very) young, website appears to be hosted by a company with a bad reputation", all according to https://www.scamadviser.com/check-website/51west.properties...)Trust your instincts. 

It also makes me one step removed from the offer, as a lot of sellers are suspicious of offers from brokers representing themselves.

Seems suspicious but I could see nothing damaged.
