@William Johnson It's not so much whether the lender cares, but whether they check - though the notary/solicitor registering the contract/caveat may be obligated to inform them.My main point is, you are unlikely to get past the next renewal without pulling the trigger, completing the transaction and financing in your name.

Next you will need to pool a bit of your funds and find yourself both an accountant and a solicitor who specialize in real estate - since the land parcel in question is in PQ, you will want your solicitor to be versant in Québec law (it differs from RoC).

It's very common here to be purchasing leaseholds (as opposed to freeholds) on property, which requires the solicitor to also act on behalf of the freeholder.
