It would be best if as much of the original floor remained when you did that, that is, if the floor were not refinished at the time you sold the floor to a specialty vintage dealer.Blind-nailed hardwood strip flooring like this is always shaped into a tongue-and-groove configuration.

As I understand, the "click" versions are not nailed to a subfloor, but tongue-and-groove glued together designed more for DIY.

I realize that is contrary to what most people do, but as a contractor who's doing and/or directing the actual installation and maintenance, it makes a lot of sense for usIn bedrooms, I staple in unfinished 3/4 in. tongue-and-groove oak with 3 coats of oil-based poly to finish it.
