We do a small "edible" treat and a card.

If you don't put the time and effort into them, you get no edible fruit, just a bunch of litter.

A $100 trip to the grocery store will become $500 because food is essentially oil made edible.

No smoking inside...edibles are okay. 

If you feel bad or do not want to burn any bridges, then send them some gratitude in the form of an edible arrangement or something.

also give them outline where they should plant these items (like previous comment says, too close to the property could damage it in the long run depending on the tree) Also, you can say potting is allowed but that's for your personal expense/hobby.if its edible plant(herbs and vegetables), definitely only at their yard or potting use only.... 

They can smoke outside, switch to edibles, or move somewhere else.

Non-conventional simply means NOT edible for sale to GSEs.

I bet many are not giving edible items unless they are store bought.

This is super cheap and edible.
