I was early, but I do now think they will pause cuts starting with their next meeting on January 29th (just 9 days after the inauguration).Folks in the press are already calling this month’s rate cut a “hawkish cut,” meaning that Fed Chair Jerome Powell will take time in his press conference tomorrow to downplay the speed at which the Fed will cut rates in 2025.
