My problem i is my market is super expensive if I stay in the nyc area and I don’t have the confidence since I don’t have any actual experience to invest out of state do you guys think paying off my mortgage would be more beneficial than looking for more rentals .

if so she should be self managing and saving herself the 6-10% on rents. 

Unfortunately, Covid decided to change my plans, and I made the decision to hold off, in hindsight it was a huge mistake and no one could have imagined that property values could have increased at such a high rate.

This implies that if I had confidence of better than normal appreciation or ways to add value, I would purchase a negative cash flow property.  

I am completely self taught intentionally.

My first STR, and plan on splitting between self use and renting to help offset costs. 

As a matter of fact, I just posted on another thread by a self manager who is being constantly harrassed by their tenant in retailition for a very minor rent increase.
