I don't have experience as a landlord, but I have one as a housemate and one as a friend to someone with Section 8 assistance:In the last apt. that I rented briefly before we moved into our "forever home" the downstairs neighbor was a beautiful young woman with a tragic psychotic disorder.  

They are newer and beautiful and rent out quickly. 

Beauty shops and barber shops can be gossip mills, the customers may know more scoop than you could ever find out by other means.Of course, as the others have said, his income should be verifiable by seeing two years of tax returns, personal and business.

They are lovely, prepaying people who share beautiful stories of their stays in the guest book.

Thank you for the speedy responses @Jennifer Ryan and @Jay C. .I'm talking to the Listing Agent at 2:30 this afternoon and will hopefully get some more info.I have not see the inside of this place (aside from the listing photos), would you suggest that I make my backup offer over the phone contingent on passing inspection or should I ask to see it before I make an offer?  

My wife is from the Los Angeles area, but we met on the beautiful island of Kauai.

As result, a family from the church who owns a fence company came and built a beautiful fence around the whole area including a gated entrance.
