Living in a single family home that you will eventually turn in a rental won't give you that same benefit while you're living there.

Michael Short   Don't get me started on how women get short-changed if they are stay at home moms, starting with Social Security benefits....But, if your Mom came to me, as a landlord, saying she's in the middle of a divorce and she should be getting alimony - but doesn't have it yet, may not get what she thinks she'll get, and there is no proof of regular deposits in a bank account to show me it would be reliable - I'd have to deny her.  

Everyone thinks that replacing a light bulb should cost $5, meanwhile you have to send out a qualified person on payroll with benefits on a company vehicle, who has 30 minutes travel both ways and then Home Depot ran out of that special light bulb.. 

@Gwyeth Smith , This is the only benefit of having spouse, for tax deduction.

It looks like you’ve learned the perils of partnering and wisely understand the benefits of investing as locally as possible.

Even if I used my VA benefits for a $0 down and rented my current home out for $1.6k per month.

I like the benefits of S-Corp, however we wont be paying ourselves a salary.
