Check the replacement date on the smoke detectors and the carbon monoxide detectors.Good Luck!

You may have to pass a city inspection - one of ours is every 4 years unless fails, then it’s every year; some require lead-free certificate or testing between tenants; one of ours now requires a smoke alarm report and a new certificate that tenant must sign saying they know their rights, eviction won’t happen if ypu don’t have that for court.

I had someone smoke inside a unit, that kind of really sucked to clear out.

I think there's enough smoke in these responses to realize there's also fire. 

A failing roof or major basement/foundation issues yes - but not your usual missing smoke detector or leaky faucet.
