Well, in CA anyway, we're required to give the Megan's Law database info in our leases, so tenants are aware of it, and can look up sex offenders on their own.

If someone with a conviction from 10 years ago that was non-violent, and not related to drugs or a sex crime - then they are a protected class.

You are correct about Baltimore and other areas in that the landlord is responsible for screening the prospective tenant for criminal record, sex offender, etc...
