Raleigh is really an appreciation play, especially now that the prices have gone up so I would make sure that aligns with your goals. 

I'm looking to align myself to my long term plan of becoming an investor.

That's my personal opinion, but it doesn't necessarily align with other people's values (aka not wanting to share common areas).

Despite his company's alignment with the ethos of Austin's leadership, people just don't want change, and many of Austin's government departments and residents are no different.

And yes, if the stars align perfectly for you on a certain day and your checkbook is brimming with cash, there might be 1 Buy and Hold 2% in Boston waiting for you.

So sometimes it is easier to keep the people for a bit and bump the rent reasonable ($25) and bump it again in increments (yearly, bi-yearly) to get in alignment.

You'd have no problem renting out a place there whether it's to students or families, but you'll find the returns aren't as good as other nearby areas.Finding good property management can be tough because in many ways, your interests and the interests of the property manager aren't aligned.
