I agree with most of the sentiment here.

Hows the sentiment in Calgary these days - the news is painting a grim picture.

With REIT managers and Securities companies having positive sentiment, it sounds like there could be an upside to the real estate market, and with higher job growth due to the stimulus, there will be increased demand for rentals and/or property, and lack of supply will cause rental and/or property rates to go up as well.

I agree with the sentiment of what you say.  

I invested in Harlem when it was bad because of sentimental reasons. 

I found a post on here from about 5 years ago and consensus seemed to be to steer clear of 1/1's just wondering if that's still the prevailing sentiment - it was my initial though, but thought I'd ask the forum.

We are located directly across the continent from you (literally - the latitude is almost the same) and a country away, but are also in a university town and have several student rentals: apartments, houses, rooming houses.We share your sentiment that students merit decent housing (clean, safe, energy efficient) and that is what we provide.  

My wife has echoed that sentiment from her experience as a residential agent.
