Some anecdotal evidence - speaking to the gal at Lowe's who was cutting keys for me in Weaverville, she said finding anything south of $1200 for a 2/1 was tough and on retail salary she is priced out of the market.

They may short cut the fix, leave things wet, and create an environment for mold. letting an unqualified person work on electrical can be a huge liability if they get hurt or burn the place down.
