Second, I see a few mentions of Californians leaving their state and bringing the 'liberal' (or however you want to label it) ideals/politics to other states, which is potentially upsetting locals and I can understand where they're coming from.

The most liberal cities have great appreciation partly because of all the restrictions and more building expenses, set asides etc...creates an ongoing supply issue that never gets resolved politically.
