It’s not like the people bidding you up have any advantage or reason to do so.Have someone go in your place to bid for you if you are that worried about it.I would not go down the path of paying taxes for ten years for adverse possession as a lot can happen in ten years and you could have issues when you go to get quiet titleI would say be prepared to pay market value for the property as nothing is cheap nowadays
