The kitchen was almost brand new and would have cost at least $10,000 if I paid retail.I also have a contact who auctions off the parts of mansions before they're demolished.So every time he gets a new property, I'll go there and do a walk through and buy things like light fixtures, blinds, doors, vanities for $5-$50 per item.

Thanks,JustinHey Justin,I'm in a pretty similar position in terms of finding an area where the numbers make sense without sacrificing the luxury of being close to the city.If convenience to Grand Central is your primary concern, heading north along one of the Metro North lines might be your best option.
