Just listened to the replay of lottery story on planet money podcast and it was pretty funny. 

As soon as that becomes anecdotally pernicious with a viable legal threat I’ll see about 1031’ing to greener pastures , likely in the southeast

Now how much of an affect does that have on the whole planet?

California slowly chopping the limbs off it's business communities and making investors flee to greener pasteurs. 

The grass is not greener on the other side. 

First poor business decision making is not only an invitation to claims, but also an invitation to having your LLC 's purported legal protection vitiated or voided entirely.If all you are avoiding by having an LLC are the very minimal legal fees from the cases noted above, then you've just effectively acquired the most expensive insurance coverage on the planet and you don't even realize it.

@Forrest Faulconer your first statement that your primary home doesn’t haveThe tax and other advantages of investment properties is flat out flat earth level wrong.It takes nothing away from @jim k’s good analysis to acknowledge that a primary is one off he most subsidized and tax advantages investments in the planet, even after recent adjustments to the tax code.

Thunderstorms occur on the planet continuously.

As a native Californian who has traveled and lived all over the world, I will without hesitation say this is the best place to live on the planet.
