@Miguel Suarez Hey Miguel, I can help you here in Western Michigan, an area that is safe, prosperous, with low crime, good economy and affordable home prices and strong rents.

We are trying to build a portfolio in western PA where we currently live. 

We love to direct investors to the Western Wayne County because the price point to rent is still very attractive without the downside risk of 36th District Court in the city proper, or the challenges of an uncooperative city government like Warren. 

I was considering further south in Western NC but I have heard there are some hot markets in VA.

Thanks @Michael Wagner It's definitely intriguing and since I'm in the early stages of my research, doesn't require a total re-think.As of now, we are planning to move to the western NC / Asheville area.

It's a great Western Suburb of Chicago.
