It's not uncommon to find different sized studs and headers.

As long as you buy right and fix it up properly, you should be able to dump the property, even if the economy takes a header.

If it is load bearing , then a header must be installed and a permit should be pulled.

I saw one post advertising a brick ranch and they listed “Westlake” in the header.

Apparently in Austin you can pay $6.50 for an express permit to retile your tub surrround and/or add insulation and a handful of other interior improvements including replacing a window without altering the size/header.

Taking it down to the studs is one thing....but are you then moving walls and putting in headers and beams?
