My now wife (then girlfriend of only one year) jumped right in with me and we closed off a back area that collapsed, removed that from the structure, closed off the upstairs, and made the lower livable.

We just had a sewer line replaced because it collapsed.

If enough water comes through, it could rot out the boards and the whole thing collapse.

Cutting corners in turn-key rehab is nothing new but in midwest, this could result in the roof collapse in the middle of winter. 

I put it on a collapsible stand with wheels from Tool Box brand - stand is excellent for the money. 

After purchase, The roof leaks, I contacted the village to get the information of the contractor and  they informed me the roof did not pass inspection and the roof ridge lines are collapsing and certain areas of the roof need new decking and the shingles were not installed with underlayment.  

If all fails and collapses, you want to have a place to live that you feel secure in.

They are not as robust but they are collapsible and you take them with you when you move.

Like you have mentioned, Lexington has seen increased growth consistently over the years (I believe since the 1800's and even during the financial collapse).

As others remarked, this banking system will eventually collapse.
