If you choose to move forward, I recommend having a backup plan in case Hawaii outright bans STR.

Even so, most people choose to buy coverage for things even if there's a 99% chance they won't need it.  

If you can tolerate it, go for the extra roommate.

There are limits to this as well (when someone stays the whole time and doesn't say anything while there), but if someone chooses to leave early or right away, give them their money back before they drill you with a 1-star review.

So something you might look at but again choose wisely don't get stuck in SOJAC stick to Madison or Rankin counties.

Most everyone is right, things are pretty much the same, my tolerance is different. 

If I were to start today, I would still choose to do the same thing - house hacking.
