However they say rereading the books have no value or meat to it.

I mixed up federal and my local, worked out though, since it made me re-read the rules.

No it is not at all rude, but reread Allen's post above.It is actually in the agent's interest to tell you, so you don't submit an offer that is too low and waist his or her time.
