Places like Oak Park and Evanston are STR friendly at the moment, and others are unregulated (Skokie).

Uber burned through $2 billion last year, but along the way they made a huge shift in people's mindset about transportation.

My point is, look at everything from...grocery stores, transportation options, restaurants, Starbucks, churches, libraries, community centers, new development.

You could also consider Hoboken, which has a lively atmosphere, a variety of housing options, and easy access to NYC through public transportation.

So far, this has worked fine for me.I have a rental property in Quincy, and a multifamily house in Dorchester, I made sure both are close to public transportation (very important in rent pricing). 

I agree with @Philip Williams about offering them the downstairs unit -and offering the assistance necessary to transport their items to the new unit.  

These students often require housing for shorter periods of time, such as a semester or academic year, making mid-term rentals a viable option.Third, Columbus is a popular destination for business travelers due to its central location and proximity to major transportation hubs.

Consider factors such as neighborhood desirability, amenities, schools, and proximity to transportation.
