This was purchased in December 2023 and I am trying to Tax plan for the coming year.1.

So, if you plan it well you can deffer those taxes and then stiff the tax man by dying before you finally cash-out and sell those properties. 

I understand that I need to prorate my expenses based on the square footage that is being rented out.However, I plan to move out soon and rent the entire house.

Depending on which market you plan to invest, it's also helpful to educate yourself on state restrictions + laws, rental property management etc. before diving in.
