My goal would be only to include articles I would personally read, so quality over quantity.

For the sign, I did the artwork myself, uploaded it to Staples, and had them print and ship it - they were the cheapest that I found at the time (mid-2017) for small quantities. 

And in this market, the more units the better, which goes against all the short-sayings of quality over quantity.

Are you in the camp that just randomly selects a city and then begins pulling leads to check again 1% rule, analyze a few deals to see if there is enough quantity for your goals of scale Or If you were in a different train of thought with a more targeted approach before getting into the weeds of the numbers.

When I ordered material for second project, I️ just went into HD with sku #s and quantity and the order was done.

Home depot may even give a 10-20% discount given the bulk quantity. 

But, if he's reasonable, potentially a known quantity and willing to loan you the money, he's assuming quite a bit of risk for your benefit and should be compensated for that.
