Howdy biggerpockets,I am in the Marine Corps, and am moving to Camp Pendleton this summer and will be there 2 years minimum.

JEN - I have a friend who held a security deposit in Marin Co for 22 days (1 day past the statutory deadline) and she was sued and had to pay 3X the security deposit back to the "professional tenants" even though they did over $3K in damages.  

Before I started educating myself, I had bought a SFH in Marin, with hopes of relocating our family there in a few years.

I know a number of landlords that are very happy with that area.We entered into a contract for a new build off of Marine Creek Pkwy, but the builder backed out when they found out we were investors. 

I took a full time job, went to college for my associates, Marine Electrician and flipped houses, all at the same time to support my children.

I actually spent four years in the Marines and there are a ton of veterans on this forum - leveraging their VA loans to the fullest.
