Given that the policy limits are going to be exhausted under any circumstances, your insurer isn't going to exhaust resources on your behalf.If it's established that you're at fault (I assume it has been) and you're underinsured, the way to protect your assets is to figure out how to absorb the judgment that's bound to come without losing them.
